Tioman Island is well-known as a paradise for people who love diving and snorkelling. As a snorkelling lover, I can’t miss this place. Without further ado, I booked my bus ticket for Singapore to Tioman Island via BusOnlineTicket.com.
Below is the summary of my journey to Tioman Island:
1) | Departure from Singapore Flyer |
2) | Immigration clearance at Woodlands Checkpoint and Johor Bahru Checkpoint |
3) | Arrival at Tanjung Gemok Jetty |
4) | Arrival at Paya Jetty, Tioman Island |
Departure from Singapore Flyer
As far as I know, there is no public bus and MRT service available early in the morning before 5:30AM. Therefore, I took a taxi to get to the departure point at Singapore Flyer. I arrived at the Singapore Flyer 30 minutes in advance, as encouraged. All the shops there had not yet opened for business.
So, I found a place to rest and charge my phone while waiting for the bus to come.
At 6:30AM, the bus arrived at Singapore Flyer on time. I put my luggage in the baggage compartment before boarding the bus.
The bus that I took from Singapore to Tioman Island was fully equipped with air-conditioner and spacious legroom.
Immigration clearance at Woodlands Checkpoint and Johor Bahru Checkpoint
The bus took me around 30 minutes to reach Woodlands Checkpoint from Singapore Flyer. Once arrived Woodlands Checkpoint, I went to the immigration counter for immigration clearance. It took me only 6 minutes for the whole process because it was a non-peak hour.
After that, the bus sent us to Johor Bahru Checkpoint for immigration clearance in Malaysia.
Once arrived Johor Bahru Checkpoint, I went to the immigration counter for immigration clearance. Going further, I had to pass through a luggage scanner checkpoint.
Make sure you do not bring anything illegal or else you might get stuck here and delay your journey.
Note : Passengers are advised to bring all your belongings with you all the time during the immigration clearance process because bus operator will not be responsible for any loss of your luggage or belongings.
The maximum waiting time at the immigration is about 30 minutes, if you miss the bus, you have to make your own arrangement. Therefore, make sure you inform your bus driver before you go for washroom or food.
After we completed all the immigration process and boarded the bus, a tour guide roughly explained to us the details about our journey from Singapore to Tioman Island in the bus. The bus after that stopped at a coffee shop in Kota Tinggi for breakfast and washroom break.
I bought myself a plate of noodles and coffee to fill my growling stomach. After breakfast, the driver started to drive 1.5 hours non-stop to Mersing to drop off passengers.
Arrival at Tanjung Gemok Jetty
Bus continued to drive another 30 minutes to Tanjung Gemok to drop off the rest of the passengers at Tanjung Gemok Jetty to take ferry to Tioman Island.
There are shops, ticketing counters, waiting area and toilet in Tanjung Gemok ferry terminal.
Please note that you have to pay for Marine Park conservation fee at Marine Park counter. The price is charged as below:

After I paid for the Marine Park conservation fee, I walked to the ferry jetty to board the ferry to Tioman Island.

Arrival at Paya Jetty, Tioman Island
After travelling for 2 hours by sea, I finally arrived in Paya Jetty, Tioman Island. I quickly got off from the ferry and proceeded to my hotel; the Paya Beach Resort, to check-in for my hotel room.
After that, I walked to the beach, laid down on the sand, listened to the waters washing up on the shore and enjoyed the breeze. The trip from Singapore to Tioman Island was really nice and I’m planning to bring my family next time. You should take a break and come to Tioman Island too!
